And let me repeat: I am not a dealer I want these beautiful instruments to go to someone like me who has appreciated how formidable a competitor Buescher was viz-a-viz Henri Selmer's product way back when.

No mouthpiece but I am going to ship it in a brand new Pro-Tec case(see image above) You will NOT find a better playing vintage alto anywhere. It is a masterpiece of silver-plating but, best of all, it is the best-playing alto I've ever picked up. When it was ready to ship, he called me from California and said excitedly, Man, listen to how this sounds, and he played a few licks over the phone. I bought this horn from Laksar Reese, a superb player and sax restorer. It plays in better pitch than any Selmer I've ever tried. Take this magnificent vintage silver Buescher alto(serial number 283764) sax. They aren't Selmers(and I know Selmers through and through) but each plays as good or better than its Selmer counterpart. I gigged with them and loved playing them. more I'm not a dealer and I never purchased a horn that wasn't top-notch and that wasn't intended to be a player's horn. I've reached the age where I've got to give up playing- which means selling off my magnificent collection of saxes(see my other auctions). Good luck and I hope the horn is a keeper.Sadly. Only consider snap pads if they are from a seasoned, Buescher veteran repair tech, or just don't give a shit about them like I do. My tenor player disagrees and his alto, a Buescher aristocrat was overhauled with them (same tech) and it plays and sounds great. My teacher and I are in agreement that snap pads don't make a difference in sound. If it's a problem right off the bat, see if you can talk the seller into accommodating the price for it) In my opinion find a really savvy tech to do a standard overhaul on the instrument in a few years, once you are more accustomed to it. Unfortunately the tech messed it up and he is considering selling it now as there are major flaws with the instrument.

In contrast, my tenor player, a real Buescher snob, insisted on having his tenor overhauled with the authentic snap pads. My teacher who has three (maybe four) of them, and the largest collections of saxophones in the world, is insanely jealous and keeps trying to trick me into trading with him. It is by far the best Buescher soprano I've ever played. I had my soprano completely overhauled with all new pads four months ago.
